I'm sure we've all thought back 20-30 years about guns that were relatively inexpensive and plentiful that have since become much more scarce and demand a premium. For me, that was the HK 91's, SP89's and 94's that I remember seeing at gun shows with my dad when I was a young lad. They populated my dreams for years, and still do.

In my opinion....future classics depend a bit on:

Scarcity driven by relative expense compared to other competitors in the same segment, proliferation in media (look at how westerns have moved the Colt SAA and Winchester lever action market), and overall enduring build quality and mystique.

Which guns fit that bill now?

I have a feeling about:

The Bushmaster ACR (not because it's the most incredible rifle on the planet, but it's been largely outshone by the SCAR) and there will probably be fewer of them in circulation long term.

The FN SCAR, FS 2000, and maybe PS90 They are pricey compared to counterparts, well built, in a lot of movies and video games, and a bit "boutiquey"....that equals future classic.

Kriss? Maybe.

In the more near future: Smith 19's , 66's, and 29's.

Others that come to mind?

I can't recall the model but the ruger .22 lever action that took 10/22 mags is one I can think of.

SCAR for sure. It's already like a unicorn dream if you see an FDE one for $2,500 ish or less...hell, even at $3k they sell in hours/day or two.

I also agree with the ACR, especially the non black model (coyote brown???)

Of course any thing Lorcin or Jennings is an instant "classic"...lol

Maybe a Mini 39 depending on the model/year.

The ACRs can still be picked up for $1500ish. Beretta ARXs too. I can foresee these becoming scarce in a few years.

Tavors seem to be shipping in pretty adequate quantities both the SAR and X95 models. If you're looking for one, the SAR should see some adequate discounting now that the X95 is out. . I don't think they will drop off in a production unless the gubermint does something which should make all currently available semis somewhat scarce.

The Steyr AUG might be a rarity in a few years. The Benelli R? (Can't remember the designation) are few and far between. The Woos are too (Daewoo). The AR-180s are another.

I think the FN-FAL clones might be a good purchase as well because the only new ones I see are DSAs.

Just some thoughts...
