what are they going for now days? I looked at a couple today both norico knoxville import models. One with a 74 style brake the other with no break or threaded barrel. Is it easy to replace the stock with a standard stock and pistol grip?

You have to make it compliant first. Straight cut has more stock options than slant cut.
I dont know what that means, I just know how to shoot them. Are you referring to 922R compliant? What is straight cut and slant cut?

Yes to the 922r. The reciever can be straight or slant cut where the stock attaches, the straight is more desirable because there are more and cheaper stock options

the chinese receiver is thicker so almost all wood stocks available on the market will have to be sanded down to make it fit the receiver's tang. it's definitely not plug n play like some of the eastern european variants. with a straight cut, there is definitely less modifications needed to make it work and it looks more correct once it's done.

stocks specifically for the mak are more scarce and usually go for more dollars when you do find them.

hand guard dimensions too are tighter so same thing on 99% of after market items that will need sanding.

it's a project gun for sure but still one of the smoothest shooting ak's that i've owned.

i traded into mine (straight cut) but couldn't functionally use the butthole stock/grip. i just could never get my hand to seat perfectly inline with that abomination.
