After a range session with the #1 son the other day, I decided to go get my LC9 which was still on the block at the LGS.
I experienced a couple of incidents in which the LCP failed to return to battery sufficiently to fire after a previous round had fired. I keep my guns clean and lubricated, and I was shooting Winchester White Box, so this could have been an ammo issue, although I have shot about 300 rounds of WWB through the gun without this occurring previously. This did not endear me to the little LCP.
I can shoot my LCP pretty well, but after using my SR9c as my primary carry for months and getting used to that, I thought why not rotate between the SR9c and the LC9? The LC9 has never failed and has more power than the .380, virtually same ergomomics as the SR9c, is only slightly larger and I don't have to worry about getting .380 and 9mm cartridges mixed accidentally, which I have done.
The trigger on the LC9 is longer than the SR9c, but not as long as the LCP's. Smoother too. For me, and I am not recommending this to anyone - people need to make their own decisions - this gives the option of carrying in a good holster without the manual safety engaged.
One of the most important aspects of carrying is to be able to hit what you aim at and nothing else. Collateral damage is not acceptable. I shoot the LC9 more accurately than the LCP.
So, I am undecided as to my LCP's future, but for now it is in the safe and I will be carrying one of the 9mm guns.
