Invest in a new AK..I’m hoping for some feedback please.

im looking to invest in a new AK.I was wondering what are your thoughts on Century Arms or Red army or anyone else.I do not want to spend a arm and leg for one.Arsenal I have read has good reviews but not really looking to spend that much on a AK and ARs will always be my babies.Thank you for May feedback.

Century made AKs blooooooow dong. If you want to try out the platform and go cheap, try a WASR 10 and get a feel for it. Go watch AK Operators Union on Youtube for some great info on a lot of different AKs if you like. But whatever you do, please don't buy a Century Arms made gun lol.

Thank you for some feedback.I had a Wasr 10/63 yearsa ago but fell on bad times and sold it to my dad and won’t sell it back lol I loved it.Had it all blacked out,collapsible stock,quad rails etc.I don’t get time to go to the range much.I bought a Ruger AR 556 months ago and haven’t even had time to take it to the range.

AKs are tough bc a WASR is 500-600 bucks and aresenals can be had for 750-900. There is barely any point in going low end if its something you plan to use/keep. But just to see if you like the platform, eff it, snag a WASR.

So if you are investing are you looking to profit from long term increase in value, or do you mean "purchase"?

If you're looking for an investment, go higher end, maybe an RPK. If looking to purchase, Arsenal.

Check out the Gen 2 AKs from PSA. They passed the 5k round test on AK operators union.

I’ve put a couple thousand rounds through mine and been extremely happy.

Where do you live? Cherokee Gun and Pawn has a lot of AKs. Even GA Firing Line and Big Woods Goods have decent selections.

I meant purchase.It will pretty much sit in my safe along with my ARs lol don’t get much down range time.I would be lucky to put 300rnds a year through it of that.I live in Walton county about 45 mikes east of Atlanta Near Athens GaI bought my first AK from Clyde’s Armory

I picked up a nice used Mac 90 sporter for around $600. Much better option than a century for about the same $$.

Yeah, avoid Century manufactured guns like the plague. Locking lugs on the C39 and RAS-47 are soft, and run the risk of exploding. New production WASRs seem to be fine and I've had no problems with my Zastava.

I thought I would invest in one of the killed receiver C39s but AKOU and MAC did a video and it was showing signs of cracking inside the receiver at a relatively low round count and the barrel erosion was also showing prematurely. I'll see if I can dig up the video. Oh, and Don't EVER EVER EVER even walk in the same room as an IO. Biggest POS on the planet.

Avoid guns with cast trunnions (RAS-47, IO, etc as others have mentioned). These are notorious for cracking.
I enjoyed my WASR-10, hard not to when I only paid $300. It's a good entry-level AK.
My personal favorite is the Mak-90

My wasr shot every bit as well as both my Arsenals. Just didn't look as pretty. But AK's suck and got rid of all 3.

Go check out @Trading Place Range in Monroe. They had a decent selection of AK's last time I was in there and they are great folks. Also check out Deatons on 78. Their selection isn't as good as Trading Place and their prices are a little bit higher but I've got them to price match Trading Place several times before.

Nice! I know Deacon.I bought my Mp15-22 from him.I live right around the corner in Loganville.Ive been by Trading Plcae but never seem to stop by for some reason.Deaton and his trusted side kick are a joy to be around.He talks my head off every time I go in there.Thank you for the info on Trading Place.
