Has anyone heard about reciprocity details of the new Illinois carry law? I have not seen anything, but there must be some acknowledgement of the reciprocity aspect in the law. I have a N.Y.S. and Utah permit and would like to know in case I visit my stepson in Chicago. (Otherwise, I probably won't visit him!!!).
Thanks!

Just answered my own question!

From USACarry.Com article:
There is no reciprocity with any other state’s concealed carry permits. As such, any person who is not a resident of Illinois that wishes to carry concealed in the state will have to go through all of the same process as state residents and pay $300 for a 5-year permit.

Guess my stepson won't be getting a visit.

The Illinois program also calls for a 16-hour class to get a concealed carry permit.

I don't ever expect to be able to concealed (or open) carry legally in Illinois, but I really be happy if they would relax the requirements for transporting firearms in their state. I doubt they will ever change those laws, though.
