Depends on the gun... 10/22 mags are cheap and tend to wear out, so I treat them as if they're consumable items (specifically referring to Butler Creek mags).
Carry gun is a G26, so the G17 mags overlap and I don't care about having more than two for the little carry gun.
AR mags... 10 minimum, or 5 per rifle.
SP5K... they're damn expensive. I only have the two mags that came with it.

I just had that issue with my 10/22 mages. I do believe they not made to keep loaded, that flat tape spring seems to get weak. Its a pisser that Ruger since they come apart would sell the internals.Thing is my rugers failed before the bulter creek.I use the steel lips ones
10 is a nice round number, that's per gun!
My thought is on a range trip I'm not reloading mags! That's for sitting in front of the TV!
