Yep. I didn't want to possibly ruin a mag in a vice, so the first time I built one, I used a scrap piece of 2x4 and a band saw to make a receiver block from wood and painted it black. I bought an actual receiver block shortly after that, but the wood one worked just fine. I even chiseled a mag catch relief in it...lol
I had a shitty metal mag and wrapped the end that goes in the vise in a towel so I didn't crush it

Yes, but the GRR, extended roll pin starter punch, and ball end punches, starter punches, receiver blocks, do make life soooooo much nicer and so much less likely to fuck up stuff.
But you also iron and starch your boxers and socks.
Someone who's opinion I trust had great things to say about those. Too rich for my blood, but great rifle.
They are a tad expensive, but compared to a nice bolt rifle in a quality chassis, they are not that expensivel. Hell, ODT just had one in 308 sell under $1,300. Would love to get one in 308 or 6.5 and get a nice optic to see how they do. Once they are out for a while, i hope they get down to the $1K mark, that would make them a great value!
They sell regularly for $1050-$1100, cost is south of $1,000
