Ruger LCP with Hogue grip sleeve.

Drop it in a suit pocket and no one will know it's there. Reliable and probably the most concealable .380. Just make sure he carries NOTHING else in the same pocket. I had to start carrying car keys in my left pocket.

I carry a 938, but it isn't perfect. I tend to ride the safety on a 1911, and if you do that with a 938, you will bleed. I would not recommend a 938 or anything with a safety to a novice shooter. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but you have to ingrain the release of the safety into your technique or you will likely forget it under stress. My son has a Shield; great gun. Whatever he gets, make sure he gets an adequate holster and plenty of practice. One of the quirks of the 938 is that the magazine spring is way too heavy to load easily, and I keep findling loose rounds in the bottom of my looser fitting mag pouches, so if you get one, get a tight fitting mag pouch.

I do not shoot the 938 nearly as well as I do larger guns, so I carry with extended magazines.

I like the LCP just fine. The LC9 shoots great too. A buddy of mine has one and I didn't find the recoil to be bad at all.
I'm confident enough in the 380 to carry it.

LCP is horrible. I don't know how yall love those things lol. The only good thing is that it's small

The trigger on the Gen uno is pretty bad, the Second gen however, pretty damned good really. I can bang out fist sized groups at 7 yards no problem.

I've heard better things about the gen 2 LCPs but Im not a huge fan of them for anything other than deep deep concealment. It's super easy to conceal a shield or G43 and have a more powerful round that is easier to shoot accurately.

I've owned both the 238 and the 938. I preferred the 938 much better all around and found the size difference to be negligible. If I were to go back to carrying a small semi auto again it would be the 938 for sure.

I have to put in my 2 cents on the Shield. I have been carrying and shooting one for 2 years now. It was the first small 9 I could shoot as good as a larger pistol. I wear baggy pants and it disappears in my front pocket.
