I would really have liked to see them take the plastic rod out and just run the bare spring before putting the metal guide rod in.

On a range trip a few years back, I was shooting just my Glock 27, doing draw drills. At some point, I don't know exactly when, the plastic guide rod broke and ejected out of the front of the gun. It ran flawlessly the whole time. It may have broken on the first round, it may have broken on the last round, I don't know, I didn't see that it was broken until I took it apart at home, but that son of a bitch just kept running like it should have.
