In reality, the kid is probably just fine. Large meals are eaten before sunrise and after sunset typically.

I think you're right but he was very pushy, almost aggressive...not typical 5 year old demeanor to a (basically) stranger about food. Enough to ping your radar a bit

Probably his first time observing Ramadan and he's just not accustomed to abstaining from 'lunch'/doesn't really understand the what/why of his circumstance ....which is a legit ideological reason for younger children to not be held to these religious duties. From a strict interpretation, his fast doesn't count anyway as he doesn't really understand why he's doing it and isn't being given a choice.

The cable, and a little bit of a shirt hanging off a chair. I hate doing it, but he will have to be crated when we are not home. I'm not the praying type of person, but I was yesterday. I lost my dog Sniper almost 3 years to the day, when Frank had to have his operation.

This did not occur to me and it would definitely explain his mannerisms. It does make sense.
