Just my 2 cents, I'd actually do a concrete floor in my basement with that garage floor paint. And there are other concrete paint options for your floors. I would then just put down area rugs on the high traffic sections of the basement. I did help a buddy of mine put down Luxury Vinyl Planking at my mother in laws house.
We went with NuCore vinyl plank with cork back based on recommendation from the contractor, think we got it from floor and decor. It's supposed to be more water resistant, but like @DeanMoriarty said, I don't think any of it is truly 100% waterproof.
It's held up great over the past couple of years, even where the dog is constantly tracking in mud & water through the dog door (of course he can't be bothered to wipe his paws on the 2 mats either!). Haven't had any warping or swelling when water sits on it for too long like our old laminate.

We went with vinyl plank as well and it is holding up great. 2 bigger dogs and 3 kids constantly tracking shit through the house and dragging shit across it.
When the carpet needs replacing, we’re going to go with they vinyl plank flooring throughout the house.

Unfortunately the jack leg that finished this concrete did a poor job. The paint wouldn't look good at all unless i filled in several areas and ground off some "oopsies" that they left.
