Add surfur powder to threading fluid and it will cut it

That's a good tip. I'll remember it. Those two were the scrap knives I hammered from cut off steel. Not super worried about them. Might do a hidden tang handle with no pins. Not sure.

I can't believe the handles hardened so much even though they never came close to the oil. Live and learn.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to harden and temper the full sized 80CRV2 knives I've got ground. Then handles. Then testing.

Yeah, wish i had another groove on the drill press pulley. I have a gear reduction hand drill that would go slower, but that's hand drilling.

Good news, the knives are hard. Bad news is a brand new cobalt bit won't drill them.

Product performance testing is my primary function at the company I work for now. We tested twist drill bits earlier this year. Try the Milwaukee red helix shockwave ones. They did well against 4140HT and SS304. If you do, let me know how they work for ya.
