What is the reasoning behind this.
I have found some pretty good information on this topic. As in an MOA is not actually one inch but 1.047 the SMOA (shooters MOA) was dumbed down to one inch for easier math, but greater inconsistency on accuracy past sub 400 yards. Mainly because years ago long distance was considered 400 yards.
It is looking like MIL is in my near future though as the further you get the more consistent it is.
