Why don't Stihl chainsaws come with locking hardware on the bar? WHY???

So the bar comes loose, chain comes off, one nut lost in oblivion.

Trip to Ace. I expect ppl older than me to know more than me and I really need to change that. Gramps I think has this job to not stay home and be bored. Fine. Hand him the nut. I want 6 each of 3 different nuts and locking washers. Gramps hands me a bag of 5/16-24 nuts.

On a hunch when he leaves, I hand the bag to my wife and check my Stihl nut. Hehe. Fuck if it ain't M8x1.25. I watched Gramps run the nut down on the thread checker and I was pretty sure it stopped before it bottomed out. WTF.

I used flat washers and lock nuts with the nylon inserts. I wanted flanged lock nuts but they didn't have any.
