M1A if you want .308 otherwise buy a BCM and be done

I like the M1A, and like the M1A (and Garand) sights. But I need something I can put an optic on (and M1A SOCOM or so). Irons don't do me much good anymore, for the most part.
An AR carry handle might work, but I'd have to try it and see. *No pun intended*

Not super-hard to mount an optic on an M1A. The problem is adding $150-200 to the cost of the rifle to make it optic ready as opposed to the various AR-10 style rifles that come with rails.

Springfield & others make mounts:

Several companies make rail systems:

PTR-91 A3R might be worth looking at.
Has a rail, mags are dirt cheap.

My 1983 Nolan Ryan Astros Topps card is one of my most prized possessions. Even if it isn't crazy valuable.

Personal experience... the Springfield mount comes loose under recoil.

The old school uniforms were pretty cool. I used to collect Nolan Ryan cards back in the day. Some company had a Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver dedicated set. Pretty cool stuff.
