its all fun and games till it gets really Hot, good friend of mine had an commercial AC unit fall thru the roof and land on him , the hot roof tar burnt his hands and half of his hair off before they got to him to drag him out , i have seen his leather helmet , im not sure how he lived through it myself , he spent a month in Grady burn unit., honestly i did no recognize him when i went to see him at Grady, scary stuff
What type of insurance do you have? I realize the risk is part of the job, but damn, if I was burned up I’d have some crazy expectations for compensation for that.
I burned up a part of my stomach by carrying a leaking car battery many years ago, permanent scars but whatever. Couldn’t imagine face or limbs

Just whatever the city offers is. Our gear is really good, and the worst I’ve had was a first degree burn from steam and my face (the SCBA mask is the weakest part) but the gear will keep your body nice and good. The outside of it may get ruined though

I hate insurance companies but sometimes it’s good to have if you’re at high risk.
Last year a friend of mine bought full track insurance for 2 days at Road Atlanta, cost him $10k on his 911 GT3 RS 4.0, and yeah, he wrecked. Insurance covered his car ($116k in damages, not totaled, and about $40k in medical bills) so it was worth the $10k he paid for 2 days
