USSR did not have safety nets that US has. No food stamps, no section 8 housing, no free phones. No disability early retirement. You worked or you went to jail.
And if you did not work, you did not get state pension (pittens) when you reached 60.
Takes longer to go bankrupt. USA will go bankrupt faster and harder than USSR did.
