And I definitely understand the properties of different types of metal and how the act towards each other under stress. I seriously wouldn't have ever considered it. I was serious about the Childers plate, but it wouldn't be permanent. I'd like to have one for fitting anyway. And red loktite fo sho!

Also I was thinking about getting the after market retaining plate so I wouldn't have to pull the site post and gas block. It just slips on from underneath and pins with a bolt and slot.
