All mossbergs and clones pumps have interchangeable barrels. 500, 590, 590A1, Maverick 88...
The semi autos, like the 535 you mentioned, are only interchangeable with other semi autos like the 835.
I think It's all about solid screw vs end cap screw, but I'm a Remington guy...

I do know that Remington and Mossberg end caps are interchangeable. Sometimes it requires an o-ring for a snug fit.
