I really do think there is a difference here that is a bit nuanced that makes him not a hypocrite.
I would only consider it price gouging when a person buys up all of an everyday necessity to turn around and sell them at an increased cost. The FEG SVD is at this point basically a collectors item. This is not a production gun, at least as of now in March 2021. The gun was meant to sell well above the average rifle, even above fairly high end rifles. From what I’ve read, the buyers on the list were expecting to pay around $3,000 for one. This is not a situation where a guy is buying all the Glock 19s for $600 from a local store to sell them on GB for $1,200 a piece during a gun shortage. This is not the same as a guy buying all the .223 from a gun store to sell at $2 a round.
To me, saying MAC is price gouging is like comparing some guy buying all the canned food before a hurricane to a restauranteur buying the last three lobsters in the tank.
