Yep. And back then you could still get smoking rooms at a hotel. You could sit in smoking sections at restaurants, and I doubt there was a such thing as a no smoking bar.

I remember a local bar owner letting patrons smoke inside long as she way cuz it was cold AF outside.... Paid fines a few times actually.
