Where do you buy the Steel for these?
That order was from Jantz Supply. Pretty good pieces of steel- for cold roll annealed bars, they were pretty flat.

The chef's knives were cut from 1/8" thick x 2" AEB-L stainless. I think even 1/16" thick would have been better. This steel is thick for a chef knife. I'll end up grinding it down.
Once i get them rough ground, I'll mail them to Peters Heat Treat in Pennsylvania. $33 per blade and they'll come back with a professional heat treat.
I've got some 1095 for a camp/bushcraft type knife. I want to pattern it after a Bark River FC5, but definitely not use the broomstick shaped handle. And a clip point, not a spear point.
