I still ain't keen on tarter sauce...but I've recently started using cocktail sauce. I had some that had some really good heat on it when we were in Hilton Head recently and that junk is addictive!
That's the horseradish they mix in, I like mine with extra horseradish and a tad of wasbai

I LOVE malt vinegar on my chicken at Long John Silvers. I freaking LOVE their chicken and they closed the ones around here. :/

Yeah... fuck malt vinegar. People used to ask for that shit at Captain d's... worked there in a pervious life. I don't even like the smell of it.

But balsamic vinegar is a different animal. But not on fish.
