I can see cleaning it up with a chamber brush but I can't ever see where actually CHANGING the headspace for another issue would be the correct answer

I think we're taking about a bottleneck car here, so it headspaces off the shoulder. Setting it deeper won't change case/ chamber friction... but it could affect light primer strikes.
