My tumbler is too small to fit my monocores.

Clearly the sensible thing to do is to buy a new can.

What's the gold standard for a rim fire can with stainless baffle stack?

If I were in need of another rimfire can, Rugged Oculus or Dead Air Mask if you wanted to keep the business in state.

Enter Rugged Oculus

I've been digging some Rugged cans lately. I want one, just don't know which.

I'm actually thinking of scooping this one up from Mike, I've been putting serious rounds through the sparrow and cleaning it has been a huge pain.

24 hrs of tumbling, 24 hours of dip, and a few rounds of ultrasonic and I'm still scraping lead.... granted I did go 3k-4k rounds fill auto with no cleaning

Aluminum monocore here... I'm sitting this one out.

Even with stainless I'm having to swap between cleaning methods as it seems dip only takes off so much lead depth, ultrasonic then removes what's been loosened, then either back to dip or let the tumbler chew away for a few hours before resorting to dip again as it is the fastest

Ah- yeah, I don't know those troubles... I can't dip mine and don't have stainless pins for the tumbler. Last cleaning, I just removed what I could with Hoppe's and some wood scrapers. It got fairly clean, definitely not new, but the bulk of the crud chipped off. I'm just going to shoot it again, so I don't care if it's new looking or not after cleaning.

How long is your monocore? Nevermind, looks like it's about the same as mine. As long as I clean every 300 rounds or so, the dip works just fine. There are some deposits remaining, but not enough to worry about. If it ever gets really bad I'll salt blast it.

I have a soda blaster
The only problem with blasting is that you're essentially preparing the surface for the best possible adhesion of whatever the coating is going to be. May make future cleanings even more difficult. The tumbler leaves a more polished finish. Soda is probably not too bad, but will it take off the lead?

My tumbler was kind of expensive, but well worth the investment. Definitely would choose it over the sonic cleaner hands down if I could only keep one.

The blaster gets the primary and stubborn gunk off, then tumble. I have thought about electroless plating and do a nickel-PTFE coating like I did on Cudruln's AR9 bolt.

The only issue with the process is that aluminum has to be zincated 1st which is a complicated process using complex baths.

None of the coatings have shown much effect on reducing lead build up.

I generally try to clean it every 500 or so, but it's been a year or two since I've cleaned this sparrow and the m16 is so fun I go through about 500 rounds each time I pull it out with friends

Love the oculus and rugged has the best service. KGmades can is tempting because if the can is left uncoated I can tumble the whole thing in pin media
I don't have much experience with Suppresors, but at the iv8888 a lot of folks who were very knowledgeable about them were really impressed with it and it seems to fit your criteria.
