That also answers my other question: How the fuck do these guys gauge winds-aloft before punching up into a stream and losing an aircraft, but I guess a few knots is controllable

theres a video of a guy that modded a parrot disco (fixed wing drone) to be controlled via 4g and flew it from one island in Hawaii to another and back. I think the round trip ended up being 50 miles and the mods cost like $150

Snagged the DJI case for the mini off eBay.
It's big enough that I can fit the drone, controller, spare battery, and spare props. I could fit another battery in there as well.
