I never understood why WWB is looked so down upon. I have shot a couple thousand rounds of it in 45 through many different 1911s and HKs with zero problems.
I have had hit or miss with it. I have also had issues with Federal in the red box too. I guess they can all have had issues. I just notice it more in the WWB. I ALWAYS see it available, but my few bad issues with it makes me second guess buying it, even when on sale.

Same here. I'd be pissed if I had a fair amount of money in a gun and it wouldn't reliably feed any brass factory load that is on store shelves every damn where all the damn time.

Never had an issue with WWB in my guns. I had a single WWB FMJ with no primer but that's the extent of it.

I shot about 600 rounds of freedom munitions yesterday. Every other round is different, but the HK easts it like it's PEZ. Never had so much as one single hiccup with that gun, ammo related or otherwise.

I really don't recall the original details. But after the Sigma debacle, Smith had to come up with a new design or they were going to be left behind by the LE market. In my opinion, it was a do or die time in their history. They went back to the drawing board and came up with a gun that addressed the weaknesses in the Glock design. Namely the grip angle and control designs. The trigger was comparable, but didn't have the reset of the Glock, because the M&P is fully cocked after cycling. As @ArtVandelay referred, it was supposed to be a product improved Glock. The locking block and sear block are beefier too, incorporating the slide rails into the blocks, instead of molding them into the frame.

The trigger has always been the weak point of the M&P. But the most recent revisions are pretty darn good. They're using the performance center sear, which is similar to the Apex Duty sear. And improvements to the trigger bar have improved reset considerably. It's very usable right out of the box. But for a little more coin, you can drop in an Apex DCAEK or FSS. The FSS is the best striker trigger I've ever used. And with a new M&P selling for $399, even with a replacement trigger, you're in Gen4 Glock territory.

My father has an xdm. God, I hate that gun...
the grip angle is a strength, not a weakness. the problem is that it is perceived to be wrong because of its uniqueness. really, all of the other grip angles are wrong but the masses have been conditioned.

Alot of people would disagree. The grip angle is the single most common complaint about the Glock. It was designed based on the angle more typically seen when shooting one handed, Olympic style with the strong hand extended forward without using the weak hand for support. Gripforce wouldn't exist as a company if the grip angle wasn't too shallow for a lot users. And the Gen 4's single largest design change was the addition of backstraps to change that angle. Even Glock recognized their own shortcoming.

The angle of a 1911 grip is widely regarded as the best design by a large majority of shooters. And the M&P grip was designed to mirror that. For all intents and purposes, the HK & PPQ grips also mirror the angle closely. And this is why people always talk about ergonomics when shooting those pistols. The interchangeable grips help customize those guns to your hand size, but if the angle was more like the Glock, people wouldn't praise them the way they do. For me, I just can't get acclimated to the Glock grip, as it feels unnatural.

Title says it all. I love cz's don't get me wrong but I need something to save for. If I am gonna go the polyfantasic route that is not a glock (ugh) it would be the m&p9.

Why should I own one?

I own an older S&W 9mm Talo Edition (the one with the nickel boron slide). I'm not going to be the guy that says I have 15k rounds through it. I'm also not going to be the guy who says this is the best option for everybody. What I am going to say is that it fits my hand really well. It is (for me) awesomely comfortable to shoot. For me it has been pretty reliable with no hiccups in my memory. It's stupid simple inside. For me it carries really well. I suggest that before you buy it shoot one. Change the back straps. Carry it for a day at the range. Run with it on. Do things that you would have to do in real life....then if it suits you as well as it has for me, buy it

That is pretty scary right there. What if it was a double charge that did not allow the bullet to seat? Have you let them know about it?

The one on the left was shorter than the rest, just pressed in too far I guess. Freedom is know to have some issues with this. In my experience it has been very rare and acceptable considering the value that they offer. There's no other way I've found to shoot subsonic 9mm near the price that Freedom sells for.
