I had a 2.5" Python that was made in 1976, was my EDC for years. Picked up a 3" S&W M-13 and sold the Python. Made a very tidy profit on it.
The more I look at that new Cobra the more I'm like "WTF?" What happened to the nice lines Colt revolvers were always known for? That thing looks like a Charter Arms.
The first model troopers were nice too. This one my uncle left me and it's gotta be smoothest revolver I've ever handled. This thing in unbelievably tight but everything on it moves slick like butter. I'm afraid to shoot it. View attachment 23232
Only one of us will, good sirOh no, now @karlvv and @AirOpsMgr will be sharing their "anaconda" pics

Man if you ever see that one listed please say a prayer for me cause it'll mean I'm down to my last very last dime and have already done all sorts of shameless things. That early Trooper of yours is a PEACH--The NICEST Colt I've seen in several years--And you're right, it's SLICK as Owl Sh**! Keep me in mind if you ever lose your mind & decide to part with it--LOL!... ....mikey357
but then...a python you no longer haveI had a 2.5" Python that was made in 1976, was my EDC for years. Picked up a 3" S&W M-13 and sold the Python. Made a very tidy profit on it.
Why? Finishing processes are better now than they were in the 60's for sure.Pass... I'm afraid that the good old days of the beautiful finishes on the Colt revolvers are gone if they do come back out with the full line of the "snake guns"
It looks like they're trying to start out by getting their compact revolvers back into the ultra lucrative ccw market. It's saturated with lightweight poly guns, and .38 is a good way to keep size and weight down vs. .357 to help them compete. Why .38 and not .357?

lol......multitasking and brain farting. LOLOLOL I can't believe I did that. Please don't ever refer to a Colt as a J Frame. Makes me want to punch you in the dick.

I don't think there's a modern substitute for hand polishing and fitting parts. Why? Finishing processes are better now than they were in the 60's for sure.
Producing parts that are machined precisely enough that hand fitting becomes unnecessary.I don't think there's a modern substitute for hand polishing and fitting parts.
