For what it's worth, that scratch line is about where the base of the bullet sits for 115 and 124 grain bullets. I've noticed my 147's seat a tad deeper.

And that looks like my brass after shooting the G17 with the can on it. It's way dirtier than shooting unsuppressed.

Would that be factory new ammo or Freedom/GA Arms/some other reload? Just curious.

New Federal and WWB, no suppressor.

Underpowered rounds or slower burning powder sometimes allow blow-by before the case expands

Check the chamber area as well. Like @AirOpsMgr said, the case acts like a gasket sealing off through chamber when the round is fired. Since you are shooting new manufactured ammo it is most likely not the charge. The powder burns indicate blow by and the scrapes could be a rough chamber. The other possibility is that it is not going fully into battery when firing or is "slam" firing. Check everything over and maybe pull slide components out to ensure nothing wrong with firing pin assembly. Lots of good videos on YouTube on how to do this.

I'm with airops and Mac11fa, I would make sure the chamber is in spec.

Did you notice the same burn marks on both brands? Did they start doing it right away or was it after shooting some that this started?

same markings on both brands. Didn't notice until I policed brass, but I didn't find any that didn't have these marks. Never noticed it before

Pic of the bottom of the brass, can see that the burn extends to the rim
