Why aren't they more popular? I handled a Steyr AUG today and I was quite smitten with it....

I understand they are a bit pricey....but so are DD rifles.

Bullpups...(old) fad or future?

The only bullpup sized rifle I would consider is a PS90. Everything else is too bulky, awkward to reload & usually too damned heavy.

If a top loading 5.56 was made, I'd definitely check it out.

I want to love the 5.7x28...but I'm not sold on it

Price, and lack of widespread adoption by le and military limit their popularity.

I might consider a bullpup if I were a midget or a t-rex.

The tavor is sweet. Obviously theirs enough demand since the AUG is getting another run of production and sale for the U.S. And the Tavor is selling just fine.

Comparing it to the AR-15 is tough because those are easily produced by countless manufactures with no IP issues and because of that many accessories are made for it as well making the gun attractive in price.

Finally....a real answer

Typically speaking the bull pups suffer from poor trigger pull.

Otherwise, it's a brilliant idea putting the mag behind the pistol grip. Makes the weapon much more compact.

I fondled an RPD at Cherokee a couple of weeks ago. Pretty cool concept. Way to pricey for me to jump in, though.

There can't be that many IP issues at this point, there's tons of older prior art out there on bullpups.

I love the concept. It just bothers me that the boiler room is right under my jaw and that the trigger is 5 feet away from where the hammer is dropped. But the only thing keeping me from getting a tavor is the price. Once I can get my hands on one for a grand or less I'll probably pic one up.

The trigger on the AUG was by no means good...but I don't think it was terrible either.

I picked up a TAVOR....and put it right back down. There's only so much plastic I can stand on a rifle. ....
