I found a very nice 300 BO upper on gun broker and this is how some dealers will get rid of excess inventory. The ammo is coming down you just have to search for deals. Here is an example:

Also, you can use your same BCG and charging handle from your 5.56 set-up so if you have a couple of these laying around, it is one less thing to purchase to get shooting.

The supersonic is a little cheaper but here is some good subsonic ammo for $0.76 a round.

You know you're right around the corner from DSG's black friday sale... assuming it's the same as the last two years. Generally they have complete railed uppers in a variety of flavors and lengths for $400 or less.
I have 2 complete lowers ready to go. I'm thinking one will be 6.8 and the other 300 blk.
