I’d have to go did through my ammo to see what brand. But it is the cheap plinking crap.[/QUOTE]

I suspect that it is flat based bullets instead of boat tails. Some barrels. especially milsurps shoot those better. I would pull 1 round apart to see, then use a similar profile bullet. Note if the powder is stick or ball, and use a similar powder. Also if you have a chronograph, matching velocities may help.

Good info, and I do have a chrono. H110 was supposed to be the go to powder for 300BLK, but I had no luck with it and switched to an IMR powder. Without going to my cave, I can’t tell you which. Using a trickier and a really expensive jeweler scale, I’m my charges to within 1/100 of a gn.
I do have some Barnes 110 gn projectiles, but I’ve not tried to work up a load. Like I said, it’s been extremely frustrating. I’m ready to give up.

I’m going to try the Gorilla Silverback 205 grain this year. Still subsonic, but they are supposed to expand HELLA good. Not cheap at close to $2 a pop (not crazy expensive compared to 300 ultra mags the Fudds use), but they should offer a clean ethical kill, while still being quiet. @Laufen @Cudruln

If those work like the advertising suggests, and the penetration is adequate, I would buy those myself. Compared to time/money invested in a hunt, ammunition cost is insignificant, even at $10 per round. In for some deer autopsy pictures.

I ordered some Underwood 115gr Controlled Chaos. Those should smack the piss out of them.

I have a Grendel in the works too. :D

I was amazed that the .223 55 grain would stay on target at 600 meters from slung prone last summer if you called the wind. I think that the grendal would help buck the wind if it is a dual purpose gun. That is where the 300 is falling short for me.

Target load, definitely the grendel. It's also not a bad hunting round.

I'm going to give the Hornady 190 gr Sub X a try . There's a video of a guy dropping a pig at 120 yards on youtube. Here's the link , I can't embed it for some reason.

Maybe look at the Lehigh defense 194 maximum expansion.
