No help on what product areas they're missing, but it's likely an NXS 1-4 will find it's way on my SBR in a few months.

Anyone want to buy a kidney?

I am a Nightforce employee, yes.
Congrats man!

Also, any interest in fixed power red dot type scopes? Id love to see what they could come up with for a rugged and clear red dot.

It would also be awsome to have another option besides elcan for a switchable power objective like their 1x/4x but without the zero shift issues.

Honestly, I’ve got nothing to add that hasn’t been said before......here or elsewheres.

I’d like to see reticle options in the spotters, but that has been mentioned for a long time. I use a NF TS-82 and have no issues making corrections without a reticle, but it can be an exceptionally useful feature. Phenomenal glass and a solid spotter.

IMHO, the gap in their optics line was plugged nicely by the 2 new 1-8x’s; the NX8 and the ATACR. I’ve got nothing to add.

I’ve got 4 of the ATACR 4-16x42mm’s and 2 5-25x56mm’s, several NXS’s from the 1-4x’s and up, and I’ve owned an SHV. Great stuff. Currently saving my shekels for the ATACR 7-35x56mm to go on my .338 Lapua.

@Leshaire ..... I think we found the rich guy. Damn. Your optics collection is worth more than my house.

Not at the moment. I think durability is the main concern, that and the fact that intellectual property rights are limiting what can be done right now.

The new ATACR and NX8 1-8x's have a very flat image, and true 1x images on the low end of the magnification range. The image "flattens out" and has basically zero distortion after about 10 ft. I was able to shoot both of them with both eyes open just like I do my Eotech at 7 yards, then instantly transition to 300 yards. Pretty slick optic.

What is Nightforce's focus? Short term and longer term vision. Mission statement?
The focus has always been rugged, reliable, and repeatable ultra high performance optics. The law enforcement/military angle is a driving force in innovation, as is the competitive shooting scene. PRS, F-Class, 3 gun, etc etc have always been a focus since these shooting sports really tend to show off the capabilities of the optics. Long range hunting, and hunting in general is also a focus, and many of the competition type scopes have a lot of cross-over capability in the field.
The optics were designed to keep pace with, and wring every last ounce of performance from the highest end firearms, and the most skilled shooters on the planet, making sure that the weak link isn't in the optical components.

One day I hope to justify a 1-6 or 1-8, but for now all of my shooting can be done with a 1x. Those seem like badass scopes

Yeah, I hear ya. I've never really been into the long range stuff, but simply being here at NF has really gotten me interested. What I used to call "long range" 500-800 yards, these guys call medium range, and they are regularly shooting matches at a mile or more. It's a different world than what I'm used to, but one I'm interested in learning a lot more about. The 1-8x scopes are definitely most interesting to me right off the bat, simply because they'll let me take better advantage of the firearms that I already have. I still love my EoTech though.

Bhahahaha no shit. My optics collection is all of a 300 dollar PRO, a 500 dollar rmr, and a 200 dollar sig romeo lmao. Hell two of my guns still need optics!
I was feeling pretty baller with 2 comp m4’s, a PRO, MRO and a couple of cheapos for the rimfires. All that doesnt even add up to a nightforce. NF makes crazy nice glass

Gotcha. That makes sense BUT I still struggle to understand how a red dot never made it into all of that?!?!

It was just fairly recently that a 1-4 made it into the lineup. Precision, long range shooting is the core of the DNA of the company, and smaller, un-magnified optics really haven't fit that philosophy.

Haven't read most of the posts, but I think the SHV F1 with a 6-24/4-20/5-25 mag range would sell like hot cakes. The 4-14 isn't quite enough mag range for long range (not getting into an argument over what's enough) and that price point catches a lot more buyers (see Burris XTR 2, Sing Tango 4, Vortex Viper PST Gen 2, and so on).

But you said, "The law enforcement/military angle is a driving force in innovation, as is the competitive shooting scene. PRS, F-Class, 3 gun, etc" which SURELY includes non magnified optics for a metric crap ton of shooting involved in several if not all of those.
