Average Number of Guns Owned By a Gun Owner

Recent story said that the average gun owner owns 8 guns. My reply is ... only 8? At least it's up from the 1994 Gallup poll that reported only 4 as the average.

I only have 1 I use for hunting. Otherwise it's got a trigger lock on it and in the safe that requires two keys to be turned simultaneously from 10 feet apart.

I would venture to guess that they got their numbers by adding up the number of guns owned and then dividing by the number of gun owners. I would imagine that for the most part the majority of gun owners in this country only own 1 gun like much of my family. It is guys like us that drive the average up to 8 per gun owner. I honestly don't even have the slightest idea how many I own. I know it is more than 1 and less than 100.

Only people I know that would are liberals who won't admit they own guns.
I suspect the number is an average of an estimate.
I only want to know how they expect you to get your 8 guns in a 14 gun safe.

I'd be curious of real numbers and how the NFA items have increased. Seems almost everyone now a days has at least 1 can or SBR.

I am also not sure how many i own, but if they were to all be lost in a boating accident i'd have to contact the ATF

I used to own quite a few, but as I've gotten older I've sold off everything that I really didn't love shooting. I had a friend back in NE that had (we counted them one evening) 178 9mm pistols, from Nambus and Lugers to Glock 17's. That was just the 9mm tally, he was really more of a rifle and revolver guy.

I am pretty much getting rid of everything that isn't NFA or my dad's. Adding my dad's guns into my safes really made me realize that I have WAY too many.

I only have 2 9mms though.

Yep, I just didn't have any use for some of the stuff I sold off. Sold off 3 of something kinda meh, and got one of something that I really loved. Back in my 20's I wanted one of everything...stupid yooooths.
