7.62x39 just make life easy for you.

I'm a 7.62x39 guy anyway. I don't know why but my time in the Army really turned me off of 5.56. I'll probably own some in the future, but they will never be my go to weapons. I'll look at the 7.62 uppers tomorrow.

I have been very impressed with my x39 pistol and rifle ar variants.

Just fyi 762x39 will shoot fireballs THROUGH suppressors in a short enough barrel. To me, that makes that round kinda useless in too short of barrels.

I'm done with untested budget shit...

I don't mind a known budget manufacturer like Anderson but these CTS's, ATI's, DAT's, DTF's, mixed up acronym startups, I'm not sure if I'm about to lose a digit/appendage when I pull the trigger.

I could always take a buddy to the range. Sure you can fire my new gun first. I get what you are saying.

IMHO anything less than 10.5" would suck ass in 5.56

You can get enough dwell time in most large gas port barrel offerings to reliably run 10.5" with a carbine gas system. Also, take into account suppressor warranty if you have one AND/OR want to go super short on 5.56.

I will not say you will have a 100% UNRELIABLE setup with 7.5", I will just say you will enjoy 10.5"+ more (that is what she said).

Also, AR pistols kind of suck. If you want to SBR one, great, but my AR pistol sits there, since the ATF ruling on "shouldering" braces was released, the pistol route seems kind of annoying now. Holding an AR pistol off your shoulder is not comfortable and is kind of aggravating to shoot. Again, just my opinion. I would personally form 1 the lower and run an 11.5-12.5", you would be much more pleased with your results unless you just want to blast paper down range just to do it...

I built a 10.5" pistol with a flaming pig... it shoots great and has never had any issues (carbine length gas system). I have no idea how it would work without the muzzle device trapping some gas and keeping the pressure up a millisecond longer.

That muzzle device also keeps you from suffering from the concussive blast from the short barrel firing a round meant for something about 1/3 longer.

And I completely agree with @Wallace 's post above- pistols are kind of dumb if you can't ( or shouldn't or whatever) shoulder the pistol brace. Every time I've shot mine, it's been crying out for a real stock. And the obligatory tax stamp.

I don't want one for its usefulness. I like the ridiculousness of them. Something to throw lead and have a good time. I still haven't decided yet and I might even go with an ak pistol. I do like 7.62x39. Best round evah.

Anyone have experience with these guys? At this price I can have it complete at less than 500.

No, no, no. Unless I was just the unlucky one to get the drunk armorer the day I ordered mine? This was a rifle build, not a pistol, btw, but, first off, knew there would be some modifications needed to get it to run (feed ramps and possibly magazines). However, I purchased a 7,62 kit w/ BCG that was supposed to have enhanced firing pin (it did not), had a 5.56 extractor on a 7,62 bolt and no O-ring on extractor (been told this is important on the 7,62). First thing I did was order a heavy extractor spring. That didn't help. Took it to a buddy that has built a 7,62x39 AR before. He hollowed out the feed ramps, modified the firing pen, replaced the incorrect extractor, modified the magazines and put an O-ring on the extractor. Runs like a sewing machine now.
