Absolutely. I only worked till 3:30 PM today but resting up for next week. They are starting phase 2 at work and we have the smoke test tomorrow from 10 to 7. I am looking to take eithe Thur or Friday off next week. I got plenty of ammo and mags. I think you will like it. I have that Black Spider 1x4 x24 I won from here mounted on it and the sandman makes it even better.

Not sure what my schedules gonna be like with the 4th in the middle of the week but I’ll let u know if I can Thur or Fri.

@boss_hawg what kind of failures did you have with x39 not firing. Did you upgrade a heavy hammer spring or enhanced firing pin as well.

I have 1 c products defense 30 round mag that has been flawless though i haven’t loaded it past 20 rounds yet.

I have two mags that are 10 rounds (? need to check) that are either asc or cpd that have the misfeeds.

so my issues are mag related.

however with either type of mag you can tell that there is some binding with the tapered case of the x39 ammo. a good tap helps as long as rounds don’t go flying out. it’s hard to explain but i am of the opinion that the x39 is difficult to feed through an ar-15 magwell no matter what setup you’re running. the 5.56 rounds lock in and stays put in standard mags but i would hate to be running around with loaded ar x39 mags in a carrier/belt/vest in a life or death situation. again this is just my opinion and observation with very limited experience with this setup.

just as an fyi - my barrel is a yankee hill 11.5” that i got for a screaming hot deal and my bcg is a toolcraft x39. i don’t think either of these are to blame as long as the mags feed correctly.

i really wouldn’t have built this upper except that the deal on the yhm barrel was too good to pass up (i think i paid $50 on a primary arms listing that i could not find 30 minutes after i completed the deal).

i do plan on deer hunting with this setup later this year but - like i said - this is far from being my go-to if my ass were on the line.

Yeah that’s a heck of a deal on the barrel. Toolecraft are GTG in my book I like them no problems at all on the 556 carriers.

So issues are mag lips or followers. Not failure to fire or eject that’s good to know. Maybe with a lil swapping folliwers grinding lips and sanding followers it feeds like it suppose to.

That 11.5 would be a screaming eagle are you gonna suppress it when u go hunt. Great for a SBR Lower too.

@Cudruln what mags do you use. Are they ASC or C products. Are they anti tilt followers.

Both. I have had zero issues with the c product mags though.

Do they come with anti tilt followers ?

I’m thinking the mid length would help some with the gas however loosing some of the BCG mass is still gonna cause bolt breakage after a couple thousand rounds so keeping an extra bolt is the way to go

If just blasting away and short range hunting, x39 just due to ammo cost. 6.8 is superior in accuracy as well as ballistics, but only you can decide if that is worth the extra cost of ammo.

Thanks for the help y’all I picked up a barrel yesterday. Already have the tracking #.
Now what bolt to use on it. I don’t want to spend over $200 for a LMT bolt only but I hear that’s the best. What bolt or BCG do you use in your AR 762x39

should be able to find a toolcraft for under $100

Sounds good that’s what I was thinking but there’s no c158 they are all 9310 you that’ll be alright just have a backup bolt I guess.
