Also cut the burrs out of you flash holes inside the cases unless using premium cases with drilled flash holes. I use to shoot Varget in my common rifle calibers, .308, 30-06 .223, 7mm-08, and it worked great in all of them. The problem was huge variations between lots. One batch that I got was showing extractor marks on the brass and completely flat primers with a below max load that I had been shooting for about 4 years. I have switched over to IMR 4064 for all of those calibers except .223, and have had great luck with all, better accuracy than even Varget, although it does not meter as well. If I did not shoot a Garand I would settle on another bulk powder than 4064 due to poor metering. I have a Redding powder measure that is only used for loading M1 ammo.
