6.5-grendel build

Thanks to Red Dawn's 6.5 Grendel thread a few months ago I ordered a barrel... Well, finally finished it today after many weeks of waiting for parts! Hopefully I will get it to the range this week. Unfortunately the scope I ordered (Vortex) is on backorder for at least a few more weeks! I'll stick an old one on it for now. Can't wait to shoot it!

Geissele 3.5 lb 2 stage
Voltaire [sic] buffer tube
Magpull stock
Integrity arms stripped upper
Sons of liberty gas block and upper parts
Scionics Np3 bolt
Satern barrel and matched/headspaced bolt (Brownells) 24"
UTG Mloc 15" super slim
Specwar 7.62 brake
Radian Raptor ambi charging handle

Had to freeze the barrel and heat the upper to get them to fit!

It's main use will be lobbing lead down range. Definitely not for moving around! It gives you a few more fps so transonnic is that much farther away. I acknowledge that anything over 19.5" is in the diminishing returns area.... Hell, I guess just 'cause I could! Lol

24" why?

There's about 150fps difference at the muzzle and about 5.5 moa at 1000yds between 16 and 24 in. I would obviously use the shorter barrel for hunting.

bench shooting ... got it!

i don't engage in that activity but appreciate the trade-offs to squeeze extra performance out of the round.

That's a sweet build @Snewt1 CMP is a great place to stretch out you legs and shoot.

So here's my best group so far it's a three-shot group because I ran out of ammo, the groups started around three quarters of an inch and shrunk down to this I am using a scope off of another rifle waiting on my Vortex to come in. Hopefully this group will prove to be the norm.
