I get that....and it definitely gives me a stiffy, but it seems like every other friggin day someone is developing some new, obscure cartridge.

I never get into new ones as barrels, parts, general aftermarket support, etc.... is almost non-existent. If the new cartridge falls on its face in popularity, you can be left with a rifle/pistol you have several hundreds of dollars above a standard platform that has crap resale value and you possibly get stuck having to make your own ammo with no factory loads available.
