I've never seen him quit so quicly. We were all right, just looking at it from different angles.
Don't think anyone disagrees that the quality of the glass and coatings are important, my only issue with his statement is that a larger objective increases fov, because it simply is not true.

Vortex crossfire II 3-9 illuminated

They offer it in 40 and 50mm which is what made me bring this up.

To me it would depend on the rifle. I never liked 50's on my marlin levers, but I did like 50's on my remington bolts and pumps.

You may also want to check the mount height, the 50 will likely sit higher causing a possible issue with cheek weld

I'm not too concerned with that to be honest. That rifle is known for having problems with the bolt handle clearing the scope so I have to use a relatively high scope mount anyway.

I just put a Vortex hog hunter on my LR308. It has a 56mm lens and 30mm tube. Bonus is it has the ability to have a red dot if desired and turned on. I tested it out a dusk shooting back into the dark woods and the critters are in trouble now. It is big and somewhat heavy (21oz); but it does what I want it to do. Besides, I have already broken two Weavers on this gun with a suppressor. My 308 bolt guns have 44 and 50mm scopes on them (because I already had them).
