I love the HPBT rounds better than the poly tipped ones. For those worried about it bouncing off, try stopping one with yer body!

The soul killing .45 ACP +P JHP has a muzzle velocity of 950 FPS ando muzzle energy of 461 FT/LBs.

The 300 BLKOUT 208 A-max has a muzzle velocity of 990 FPS and muzzle energy of 451 FT/LBS.

That is for subsonic. Once you step up to Supersonic it get way different! That takes a 110 gr DPX round to 2400 FPS at a muzzle energy of 1407 FT/LBS!

Two great options in one rifle!

I almost loaded up some 225gr supers. Load data went to 1500 or 1500 fps, butni dont have any upcoming hunts planned so i dont need the extra energy. What many people dont realize is you can get 110gr up to 223 velocities. I like the versatility from the reloading side of it

I did not realize that. I have been going back and forth on a .300 blk for deer hunting but a lot of the ballistics don't leave me too confident in humane kills. I know it's been done, but I need to research ammo selection more before I dive in.

This is a good read.

Also, academy had ammo on the shelf for 16,99. While thats a little over twice as much as some 223 ammo, its the same as many popular hunting round like 30-30.

I did try out 300BLK ran subs and supers but I let it go and got the 6.5 Grendel waiting till next month to run it suppressed when my stamp comes through. Fingers crossed. I think the 6.5G is perfect for the AR15 just my $0.02 it's the best caliber for hunting in AR15 platform out to 500-600 yds. I won't make that shot but it can be done with a 16" barrel.

would the 6.5 suppress worth a damn?

also, looking at the ballistic data it seems that you'll need an 18 to 22" barrel to get the expected performance out of the 6.5 grendel round. with a can hanging off the end, that's going to be quite the setup.

From what I've read I think the 19.5" is peak performance of 6.5G. I've got a 16" now looking to do a 18" later and as far as suppression goes I dunno I have an ASR FH on it now waiting on my stamp approval hopefully first of April.

except for 22 nosler. that shit is pointless.

i purposefully don't mix the two for fear of chambering a 5.56 round in a 300 barrel.

i'm still like both of my 300 setups (one is an sbr) but i'm still trying to "be sold" on the caliber as a real "go to."

I mark used to my mark my mags with electricians tape to indicate subsonic loads. However, I just got a load of new PMAGs in sand color for my sub rounds for my 300 (I'm changing the floorplates on my .308 PMAGs to indicate sub rounds).

I've made the switch to 300BLK as my go-to carbine of choice and I'm glad I did. However, like most things, it's personal preference and there's now arguing that. De gustibus non est disputandum.

I got the DDC geissele rail in, and im only going to use the new coyote tan marine corps mags for 300 blk. That should be easy enough to differentiate
