The Firefly 10/22 Bolt is specifically designed to cycle subsonic .22LR ammunition like the CCI Quiet-22line. Most semiautomatic guns won’t cycle the lower powered ammunition because of the insufficient force required to blow back the bolt. Volquartsen has changed the bolt, recoil rod and spring to allow for super quiet shots even without the use of a quality rimfire suppressor.

Interestingly, it will still cycle the quiets even WITHOUT the suppressor on, which means quiet shooting even for those who aren't into suppressors.

Won't it get the shit beat out of it (or the receiver) with standard pressure loads?

Wont a screw driver get the shit beat out of it if you try and use it as a hammer...?
Yeah, but I have a junk drawer full of them. Volquartsen bolts not so much.

Use the right equipment for the application is all I'm saying. If you use it incorrectly will it beat the shit out of it? Almost guaranteed.
Yeah, I'm not buying a bolt to use with a particular type of ammo. Fuck those Iowawegians and their goofy bolts.

hmmmmmmm. I need to get a .22 anyway. I have been thinking about a bolt action so I can shoot these and .22 shorts.
Shorts are also like backyard quiet with no can.

I have a brick of powderless 22's, talk about quiet!

I bet with a low power spring and a bigger radius on the back of the bolt you could get a factory one to cycle quiets

I've gotten one so slick it will run them with a suppressor.

More aggressive radius, lighter recoil spring, and polish everything on the bolt and inside the reciever.
