I believe the 17L's extra barrel length over a std 17 gives it ≈100+ ft per second advantage across the board with most common ammunition.

True, but the extra length does make it feel a bit more stable, and if using the pistol sights, the longer sight radius helps to keep groups tighter IMO. Also, if you get one of the aftermarket ported barrel that utilizes the relief cut in the slide(for the Glock that is), you save on weight...

Just 115gr cheap plinking ammo. I am having a hard time remembering the brand. I am pretty sure it was either Winchester or Blazer. Will have to look at the other site to see if I noted it there.
