I dont have an air compressor so I'm just going to do it the old fashioned way. Soaking it in vinegar and then using a 1000 grit sanding sponge.

Let me try removing the finish first, if I fuck it up I'll send it to you.

Instead of a bead blast I bet I could do it by hand. Soak it in vinegar over night and just polish it until it comes off. Worst case, I'll have to coat it.

Rem oil is the only thing I've ever used. Edit: I also use Rim oil, but for a totally different purpose.

Mainly because you get more benefits with the rifle length at 18 inches with no downsides. Not to mention your front sight is further up the barrel making it more accurate.
