Just so you know what you would be getting into. AO has the Gen 2 (or did last year) for $1189. My build as it sits now. $1189 RPR $249 Crossfire II (Get a PST if you can afford it) $60 Team Warne mount (buddy price, I think they are $110-$120 new) $80 bi-pod $1,670-ish after tax. Probably...

Gen 1 RPR's are no more. You can only buy Gen 2's new now as Ruger stopped accepting orders for Gen 1's late last year. The extra MSRP is for the aluminum bolt shroud, new style rail and MD. All the rest is the exact same. I also think they dropped the 243 offering as well.

Which ammo were you using? Those look like great groups. May have to try a Tikka out one of these days. I know @cmshoot speaks highly of them for the money. I just forget about them not being a huge bolt gun guy.

:tsk: I do want to get some "dope" on my RPR out to 1,000. I only have it for 600 at the moment.

In regards to 6.5cm, it's still not very common in many retail stores, at least the good ammo isn't, but my RPR performs quite well. Best group using factory Hornady Hunter Precision yielded .473 MOA at 100 yards, and a descent .85 MOA at 600 with a 10-15 MPH right to left wind. The RPR is on...

Ruger American Predator in an LSS chassis in 308 Remington 700SPS tactical in 308 Savage 10 FCP SR in 308 Mossberg MVP LR in 308 Nearly every retail outlet will have a descent selection of ammo and all of those minus the Ruger in a LSS or the Remington would leave a descent cushion for optics.

Brownells had the V1 80% for $78 shipped. Snagged one in FDE to tinker with one of these days.

Help me decide on a shotgun

No, but I have also not had one get stuck either. Not saying leaving it off is the right thing to do, but I personally don't use it. The CLP I have works well enough for this. If I ever feel like they are installing with a gritty feel, I just cleaned the threads and CLP them. Again, what I do...

Help me decide on a shotgun

Another tip with those to keep rust off the barrels is: 1) Always wipe it off with a clean rag/towel when done shooting. 2) Swab or run a bore snake down the barrel with CLP on it when you are done shooting. 3) Oil the outside of the barrels, safety, and trigger guard when you get back from...

That and the forearm wood doesn't line up at all. Beats having to dump $1,200+ on a Citori or alike though.

Help me decide on a shotgun

Looks just like mine! lol I think you will like it. Again, not as comfortable as a semi, but a great budget O/U. Also, remember when you take that forearm off, that the barrels will fall off when you open the action. Make sure to hold onto then. Getting an O/U case will let you travel with...

Help me decide on a shotgun

You can pin the safety on a STF 3000. The safety will still work, but the auto feature (transfer bar) is removed. I personally have shot mine so much, its just habit to turn the safety off before I shoot, but some people still hate it. I left mine stock. This guy uses what appears to be too...

Help me decide on a shotgun

Go pawn shop hoping for a few. Hell, I picked an old bolt action shotgun up one time for $50 in one. Never know what you will find and many will barter on price.

Help me decide on a shotgun

The $250 was a "friend" price from a buddy of mine. No clue what they sell for normally used so don't use what I paid a a basis for a good market price. Also, just let me know when you want to swing by and pick it up.

Help me decide on a shotgun

Some of the gun clubs offer it, but really, just ask some more experienced folks when you go shooting and learn by doing. Try to get in on a Rotary Club shoot at Barnsley Gardens. Some of those guys are professional shooters or incredibly skilled hobbyist. A lot of them don't mind giving you...
