Heavy barrel AR one step further

never saw the need for the silent capture spring. it seems like an expensive way to potentially cause a malfunction. every other day people are posting problems with their builds that are remedied by adding back the twang-inducing $2 standard spring and $15 buffer.

    Hearing Protection Act

true but aren't they much cheaper in European countries with no special taxes? maybe the construction is not of the same quality and materials but I've heard that they are in the 200€ range.

    Hearing Protection Act

kind of strange that the manufacturers would be fighting so hard for this...it significantly lowers the barriers of entry for other manufacturers into their field. it would also probably drive down the market price of their products by 50% or more.

    9mm AR upper questions

    1. my 7.5" barrel is recessed under a 9" rail. with 9mm it may not matter if I shoot without a can but I have seen issues with high powered rifle calibers. I still keep a Carlson flash can type for when I'm not shooting suppressed. 2. I actually bought a 1/2x36 piston for my 9mm can because...

Went to Glock in Smyrna today

the cost of free service is having to watch that motherfucking Glock infomercial 15 times. there are moments, at the end of the film, when I actually wish that his plane would crash into the side of the Austrian alps. having said that, at least the Glock clone army knows which way to load the...

    First NFA AR15 Build

Believe whatever you want. I saw no reason for the individual who conducted the test to fudge results that they were getting. Personally, I think that 10" and up barrels are fine. I got the 12" only because it was a really good deal. Unfortunately, this thread has devolved into a debate on...

What Mag Block for a 9mm AR Using Colt mags?

this. I have the top loading model but I was nervous with the bolt catch reinstall.

    First NFA AR15 Build

Also, I was looking at a 12" vs. a 10.5" barrel. Again, I'm not saying that 10.3/.5 won't get the job done but velocity is important with 5.56.

    First NFA AR15 Build

Here is the article I read showing the averages of five shot groups from 10.3", 11.5", and 14.5" barrels. https://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=509733

What Mag Block for a 9mm AR Using Colt mags?

I'm not ready to totally poo-poo the Glock mag lowers just yet. I agree that it does "look" ridiculous but if it works then I can't argue. I went with a colt mag setup even though I own a G17 and several 33 round G18 mags.

What Mag Block for a 9mm AR Using Colt mags?

Agreed. Dedicated is the way to go cost-wise if it's a single purpose build. With the Hahn block, I could theoretically change over to another caliber with a simple mag block and buffer switch out.

What Mag Block for a 9mm AR Using Colt mags?

I've used a promag which sucked and I've used a Hahn Precision which is awesome in every way except for the cost.
