I think the problem is that you can build a pretty nice (but basic) AR15 for $500 bucks or less, But a nice AK (i.e. Arsenal) runs around $800+ bucks... If you can find a MAK-90 around $600 bucks that might be a pretty good option as well.

I like both, but not 7.62x39 AK's... I just traded in to a nice .223 Arsenal AK & have a 5.45x39 Arsenal AK74. I have AR's in 5.56 & .308 and 22LR. I'm more of a AR guy overall.

I cant find a holster that fits the G21 very well... Funny story about that gun. I bought it in the summer of 2008 when I first went to Ft.McCoy Wis. Its a G21 SF with, as it turns out to have a "rare" full rail, the box said it was a Cal. model gun w/ 2 10 round mags. from what I have gathered...
