This is pretty cool though.

The NF ATACR 1-8 selected as the US military's FFP squad variable power scope. The optic will be used primarily on M4 and M110 or Mk17 rifles.

This scope was designed and is built from the ground up in Idaho.

I'll ask, but at this point I'd have to assume it's going to be the FC-DM.

I'd be interested in seeing this on the range, but I have to admit, my Vortex has a much simpler reticle. I think the NF reticle might be "be too busy " for most soliders.

The cool thing about this FFP scope, is that down on low power the reticle basically disappears and it's used like a red dot. As you bump up the magnification, the functionality of the smart reticle comes into play. It might look busy if you're used to duplex style reticles, but after you get used to smart reticles there's no going back. It's so much easier to score hits quickly at distance. The bottom line though, I'm sure we'll put whichever reticle they want into it....maybe multiple options depending on the platform, I dunno..


The Marines specifically requested our TreMoR3 reticle because of the huge improvements in accuracy potential at distance.

I'd be fine with that reticle, but very, very few people shoot out past 300 meters with their rifle. I'd be curious to to run that optic on a 240B or a .50 BMG.

It's rated beyond 20mm Vulcan, so it'd be fine.

The reticle is undecided at this point.

The “Christmas tree” style reticles are easy to use once you actually run one. I was against them at first, I thought they would be too busy and occlude too much of my view, but that is not the case.

These optics ain’t for the riflemen, they’re for DM’s. When you’re looking at engaging from CQB distances out to several hundred yards in a short period of time, a reticle that allows you to make quick hold-offs comes in mighty handy.

If you’re into the LPVO’s, NF has a couple of outstanding options.
