Where is everything?!

We all are aware of the ammo shortage. There seems to be a firearms scarcity too. My friend has been trying to get an LC9 for a month; the FFL is telling him there's not much to be had. I've checked Bud's, JetGuns, Impact Guns, Gunbroker ......... nobody seems to have much in stock (S&W 442, XDs for example). Have you guys found this to be the case? We can't even get pepper spray shipped to this stupid state (NY) anymore. I thought California was bad ...
The old line, "Hey buddy, can you spare a dime?" will soon be, "Hey buddy, can you spare a round!" :

You're right Ray. I keep seeing the same things, M&P's, Taurus, and a few Baretta's, and no ammo!

Is this a planned lessening of guns and ammo? How do we find out? Where are the 22 rounds? Where is the 9mm ammo?.....Where is it all?

They're on shelves at at least 2 shops here in Louisville. New version LCP's, tons of LCR's, LC9's, and most versions of SR's.

It is all gone or back ordered for anything related to a firearm. That includes, guns, ammo, reloading supplies, re-loaders, holsters, safes, tasers, pepper spray, magazines, scopes, you name it. I have customers ordering holsters for guns they don't even own yet. Had guy order a holster the other day for a gun he has, but had ordered a holster previously back in Dec. for an XDS. He still does not have the XDS, but he has a nice holster for one! ;D

Lots of panic buying, hoarding, and huge increased demand for concealed carry permits all happening at the same time. If they ever pass a weapons ban or limit the size of magazines, I think it will get worse. At least for me in the form of increased demand. Crazy times!

Whats a new version?

I believe slightly higher sights and an improvement in the trigger pull. Rich had mentioned this.

I wonder if the sights are high enough to affect some of the plastic holsters. Goff gave me a Fobus that I use sometimes for my LCP. Wonder if it'll work on the new one as well.

My LGS just put 25 pistols on display on Thursday and a few on Friday. I was able to get some small pistol primers too. I hope this is a sign of things to come.

Hmm, things are taking some time, aren't they? I ordered those .45s and it's been a while and I also ordered a scope and haven't got the mount yet.

What I find interesting (based on this thread and 3-4 similar threads on this forum and the other forum) is that it depends on what part of the country you're in. In one part of the U.S., ammo and guns are almost non-existent. In other locations there's plenty of ammo on the shelves and no shortage of popular firearms, i.e., LCP and LCR handguns.

Twenty minutes ago I just watched a segment on Fox about the DHS and the SSA buying tons of high-performance ammo. They also touched on the nation-wide ammo shortage civilians are experiencing, and also how the shortage of ammo is impacting police department training requirements.

There just doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason anymore about anything.

This entire situation is really beginning to PMO!

I know a guy that never owned guns that's started working;

http://floridaguntrader.com/index.php

This has turned into a gold mine for him. A real enterprise of buying and selling for a profit.

Remember the real estate bubble? Maybe now is the time to sell. When you can X 3 on your money should you wait? If had a box of, say Mini Mags that I bought for 7 bucks and now can sell for $20, why not? or 200 boxes I bought for $1400 and can now sell for $4000? That's a fat 2.6 k. And the rub is, these guys buy up this stuff, like my ammo, and resell it at another profit!

A friend of mine just sold his old cop gun and vest only to see it on FGT the next day. It was $200 more.

I know that a bust usually follows a boom, but I just wish I'd bought more WASR 10/63s, Bulgarian magazines and crates of Yugo.

LOL. Yesterday, I picked up a box of Fiocci 45 ACP for $21.99 and a box CCI Mini Mags 22LR for $7.99, just adding to the stash. I was at a LGS when a guy brings in a S&W M&P15 that he'd bought at Wal-Mart a couple of months ago. He paid $1,000. wants $1,200. Owner say $800. maximum offer.

Ammo is slowly starting to come back, except for the Wal- Mart Stores. PSA down the road is still selling AR-15s like hot cakes.

I checked out the web site, those prices are something else.

In reading all of the entries it just occurred to me: is there a limit to what people will buy "just to have enough" or "just in case"? How much will be bought and stashed until the floor in the storage closet drops to the basement under the load? And if there is a time when people decide that maybe they have enough, at least for the next month or so, the shelves in gun stores will fill up and overflow and the price will drop. Or maybe I'm wrong. Just wondering.

I guess it's all in how people define "enough?" and "In case of what?"
This panic can't last forever; money does run out. Hopefully, when it ends, supply and demand once again take over and some normalcy (whatever that is!) returns.
In the interim, many are ready for the "short term" (whatever that is!).
I'm glad I have what I have. Practice may have to be on hold till we see how it all plays out.

When it comes to quality .22 ammo I can tell you where it isn't..........at my house. I am just about out of good .22 ammo. I still have about 2 or 3 hundred rounds of junk for the rifles.
