Next time I am able to go to the farm I am going to try out some steel cased ammo in my AR. I have some Tula and some Wold WPA (I think). I dont have high hopes for the Tula but I have shot the Wolf in other guns, not ARs though, and had good luck. I have been trying to buy the brass cased wolf as much as possible though.

What do yall use as your preferred cheap ammo for handguns and rifles?

Shoot tula is fine. Ive shot prob 3K total rounds of tula between 223 and 762x39 without one single bad one. Monarch is god awful, had a ton of light strikes with that crap in 223 and 9mm. Wolf is fine too, 500-1000 of those shot with zero issues...

Golden Tiger for super cheap AK ammo.

For AR's the cheapest I shoot is decent brass cased stuff. Perfecta is dirt cheap and made by Fiocchi.

Ive had some problems with Tula in the past, light strikes and stuck cases.

$5 bucks a box for steel case is hard to beat, obviously I cant use it indoors though. Down at the farm though I am all about shooting as cheap as possible since that is where I actually get to "train" so I am doing alot more rapid fire instead of spaced shots like indoor ranges make me do.

My indoor range let's me shoot as fast as I can, and I can shoot steel.

If we ever go shooting I will have to remember to bring my steel cased ammo then. I try and shoot it when I can and save the brass for when I cant.

Yeah, they have no problems with it. I take newbie friends from Decatur there are lot. It's not a testosterone juiced place at all. There's funky Asian art on the walls, half of the staff is black..most female. It's pretty non-rednecky, and obliterates a lot of stereotypes right away about gun owners.

Isn't monarch just wolf in a different package? I'm almost positive it is and herters is rebranded Tula.

They are both fine in my experience. I've never had a light primer strike with either using a milspec trigger but certain target triggers may not hit with the same force.

The Tula 55gr is also reasonably accurate. In the gun I tested with it was capable of 2moa.

Don't use Silver bear .223 ammo, it sucks... I'm done with steel case ammo, I like PMC bronze, and the ZQ1 I found a Walmart for awhile.

I prefer brass case from Georgia Arms for most pistol and rifle calibers. I have had very good luck with Wolf/Tula in .223/7.62x39 and prefer it for plinking ammo in the AR and AK. Other than that I mostly shoot Georgia Arms. I'll pick up a couple boxes here and there of either Federal or WWB at Wally World every once in a while though.

Oh, I forgot to add that Tula .45 ACP ammo works great in my G21... But Winchester White Box sucks out of the G21... I try to pick up the Federal brass from Walmart whenever I can.
